In 1985, General Motors announced to the world that it intended to build a world class car. This new car manufacturing facility, located in Spring Hill, TN, would build cars a 'whole new way' thanks to the innovative partnership arrangement between GM and the UAW. They believed that their unique agreement would become a model of manufacturing excellence in that workers at every level of the organization would be truly involved in all decision-making as co-equals.
